The Show 2006: Each year in the Industrial Design Engineering course at the Royal College of Art a group of first year students are selected to design the final degree show for the second years. In 2006 I was one of four people chosen to come up with a vision and build an exhibition space that would not only display the work of the seconds years but call attention to the department, it's ideals and most importantly it's spirit.
The concept that we came up with was a dream factory. Coming from the belief that the program literally.. "Pours dreams into peoples heads" To that end we created a factory in our space. WE hired a conveyor belt and chose a colour scheme of white, cardboard brown, and blueish gunmetal grey. The students work, which was very colourful, was juxtaposed on a field of white obsolete goods and each piece was lit very intimately by 60 watt spots from white anglepoise lamps donated by Anglepoise themselves. We also had a giant Anglepoise at the entrance.
